Morning Chapel
Morning Chapel
Number of People: 2
Budget: $0
There are five chapel services, one each morning, Monday through Friday, at 9:00 a.m.
The services are aimed at young people, but all ages attend. Get a list of names of people who have expressed interest in being leaders of Morning Chapel. From this list choose one family, a small group of people, or an individual to be responsible for each service. Contact them well in advance of the conference to find out if they will lead a service. Request that they make any copies they will need (songs, etc.) to bring with them. Have your leaders limit their services to 15-20 minutes.
Give a list of the leaders to the Starboard Scribe on Saturday, on-island, so s/he can put the names on the Starboard. The porch bell is rung to alert people to morning services. Ask the Ding-a-ling to ring it at 8:55. Don't forget the slow ringing of the Chapel bell prior to the service. Perhaps ask a different child to ring it each day, always supervised by an adult, so that it is rung slowly (fast ringing indicates a fire alarm).
The coordinators are not obligated to do a service but are expected to be at each service to help supervise, support the selected leaders, and make sure the chapel is returned to its pristine condition when the service is over. (In recent years, the Skimmers have done a service toward the end of the week. Call the Skimmer staff to see if they are interested in doing this. The Junior Teens have also done morning chapels.)
HAVE FUN!!
